Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Ali Larijani voiced Iran"s readiness to engage in oil and gas cooperation with neighboring Azerbaijan.
According to ICANA, during a Tuesday meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan Republic Ogtay Asadov, Mr. Larijani described the mutual ties between the two countries as friendly, saying that the historical roots of good ties between the two countries had paved the way for the visit by the Azeri official to promote the level of relations between Iran and Azerbaijan.
Larijani further attached great importance to the development of comprehensive ties between Tehran and Baku, especially in the economic sector.
During the meeting, the two sides also discussed ways of facilitating border interactions and accelerating the implementation of mutual agreements.
Heading a high-ranking delegation, Asadov met with President Hassan Rouhani earlier today. The officials discussed a host of issues including the development prospects of bilateral cooperation, as well as security issues.
Asadov is also scheduled to meet with Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, and Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani.
